The Band hails from Glasgow and was formed 31 years
ago in 1976. The original line up was Gordon Thomson (lead guitar/vocals), John McCaig (bass guitar/lead vocals), Tommy Tugwell (drums/vocals) and Owen McGeachy (rhythm guitar/lead vocals). After playing the club circuit around Glasgow for a few years, they then went on to top the bill in their own right and back up many Cabaret Artists as far afield as Blackpool to Inverness, making many friends along the way.
Willie Dundas (drums) joined in 1989 after a change in the original line up, when Owen left, and Tommy moved on to rhythm guitar. Again the Band topped the bill all over the country, but now devoted most of their enthusiasm and time to Country Music. The Band had always been a four piece outfit up until Tommy's retirement in 1995, when with the advent of computer enhanced music which they could produce and mould to their own particular style, they decided to go on as a three piece. Willie the drummer decided to retire from the music business February
2000. So now the band keeps rolling along as a duo. The two originals are
still going strong and god willing intend to keep doing so. Over the past
two and a bit decades that they have been together there have been many
changes in trends and styles of Country Music. However the boys hope that
their brand of "Country", both on stage and recording, reflect this while
keeping their roots firmly planted in the "Traditional" mould. 2006 saw us celebrating 30yrs together and to mark the occasion we recorded a double album which we hope you enjoy Keep It Country |
